USABasketball.com reports Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd is part of the 12-man roster that will represent Team USA in the upcoming FIBA Americas Championship.
Seattle Supersonics forwards Kevin Durant and Nick Collison were the two players cut.
The roster:
“Named to the USA Basketball Senior National Team were
Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets);
Chauncey Billups (Detroit Pistons);
Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers);
Tyson Chandler (New Orleans Hornets);
Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic);
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers);
Jason Kidd (New Jersey Nets);
Mike Miller (Memphis Grizzlies);
Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons);
Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks);
Amaré Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns); and
Deron Williams (Utah Jazz).”
Update: Bucks.com likes my headline, or great minds think alike. Or something. They now have a "Redd, White and Blue" headline.
Update #2: Same "Redd, White and Blue" headline in the Team USA NBA.com blog.

I hate to say it, especially on a Bucks blog, but a guy like Bruce Bowen would be much more of an asset than Redd.

I'm quite content with Prince playing the defensive stopper role this time around... Redd should be a good fit too.
It'll be very interesting to see how the '08 team looks. Since Bowen didn't make the roster last year, I doubt he'll make it next year.
